Dan Weedin is a results guy.
Dan has provided measurable results to scores of small to medium sized business clients by dramatically reducing insurance costs; developing business continuation and disaster recovery strategy; creating safer workplaces with improved employee morale; strategizing crisis response; and enhancing communication skills for business leaders. Bottom line is he turns risk into reward and helps his clients sleep better at night!
Dan has been in the insurance industry since 1987 as a company underwriter, insurance producer, and now as an insurance advocate and buyer. He founded Toro Consulting, Inc in 2005 to help insurance buyers make better decisions on their risk management. In that time, he has broadened the scope of his work to include crisis leadership, safety training, and mentoring.
Dan is an award-winning speaker who helps business leaders herald their message more effectively to their management teams, employees, supply chain, and customers. In 2007, he reached the international semi-finals of the Toastmasters International speech contest. He has spoken to groups and associations in both North and South America.
In 2010, Alan Weiss accredited Dan as a Master Mentor. Dan now works with consultants and entrepreneurs all over the world to dramatically accelerate their business.
Dan has written and been interviewed extensively on risk management and speaking topics. He has been published or featured in American Express OPEN for Business, Toastmasters Magazine, the Society of Human Resource Management, Best Review, The Street, the Insurance Journal, the Philadelphia Inquirer, the Baltimore Sun, and Independent Agent Magazine. He writes monthly columns with the Kitsap Business Journal and e-Producer on a myriad of business topics. Dan is also featured in Alan Weiss’s book Million Dollar Coaching. He is Interview #11 and is proud to say he officially gets the last word in the book!
Dan is a graduate of the University of Washington. He holds the designation of Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) from the National Society of CIC. He also is a faculty member for that organization training insurance agents in commercial property.
Dan lives in the Puget Sound just west of Seattle with his high school sweetheart Barb, and their two college-aged daughters. Dan is active in his community as a Rotarian, Toastmaster, and elected school board director. He volunteers his time with the Olympic College Foundation, Miss West Sound Scholarship Pageant, the Sons of the American Revolution, and the North Kitsap School District. He enjoys golfing, sports, reading, cooking, and being walked by his canine companions Captain Jack and Bella.
